4th LGBTI Tobacco Control Summit
IFBP participated in the annual LGBTI Tobacco Control Summit, providing input as to
how smoking affects the Black LGBTI community.
The Fourth LGBTI Tobacco Control Summit took place July 11th, 2006, in Washington, DC, (directly preceding the World Tobacco Conference). The event was held at the Human Rights Campaign building where participants discussed the tragic effects of smoking on the LGBT community. Leaders from various organizations and national networks, including Earl Fowlkes of IFBP (at the center table) , offered strategies employed to engage citizens and government leadership on the importance of tobacco awareness.
